ADMINISTRATOR’S MESSAGE FOR THE YEAR 2020
Rev. Sr. Antoinette Opara, SHCJ
On behalf of the Proprietor of Holy Child College Lagos, His Grace Most Rev Dr. Alfred Martins, the SHCJ Province Leader, the College Board, and the College Management Team, I welcome every student, staff and parent to the second term of the 2019/2020 academic year. I extend the same warm greetings to the vibrant College Alumni and all other stake holders associated with the college; may 2020 be a year of special favour for each and all.
2020 is indeed a special year for us as a College – special because we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the foundation of this great institution, the esteemed citadel of learning where everybody is somebody and Jesus Christ is Lord. Therefore, we will be gathering at different times and in different places for the singular purpose of celebrating our great College and its rich and treasured history. Various special events earmarked for the Anniversary include ‘HCC Girls Got Talent’ show, A Lecture on ‘Girl Child Education, Leadership and Morality issues’, Health walk, Visit to the Orphanage, HCC Girls Theatre etc. Endeavor to be part of any of these exciting activities.
We are grateful to God for the safety of our students, staff and parents throughout the Christmas holidays and we are glad to be back to the college. This term, our SS3 students will seat for the GCE examination from January to February, we pray that God would grant them success.
The College looks forward to a special edition of the College Inter-House Sports competition, scheduled for the month of February 2020. As we get ready for this event, we pray for an exciting, injury free-sporting event for students, staff and parents.
The students will also engage in various competitions this term, and I pray that they enjoy the experience of competing with other students from other institutions and learn valuable life lessons from the activities.
Kudos to our teachers as they come up with more interesting teaching methods to keep our students actively engaged in learning.
We are indebted to our HCC parents for all the support and encouragement for all and every one of the College plans and programmes. May God continue to bless you, the parents of our students and prosper the work of your hands.
The College is immensely proud of our esteemed Alumni – the Holy Child College Old Girls – for the immerse support – financial and otherwise – and especially for the Mentoring programme for the students – may you all continue to shine as the stars that you are!
The College has commenced the process of admitting new students into the College for the 2020/2021 session. The entrance examinations will hold in February, so kindly purchase the Admission form now before the examination date.
I wish to conclude this welcome message with Psalm 127: 1 ‘Unless the Lord builds a house, in vain do the laborers labor’. Therefore we commit all our plans, desires and expectations for the success of the celebration year into the care of the Holy Child Jesus and His Blessed mother – our Mother of Perpetual Help and Venerable Cornelia Connelly, our Foundress. May all our actions be to the glory of God!
